Hi, I'm Qi (pronounced as 'Chee') and I am a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Doris Bachtrog's lab in the Center for Theoretical Evolutionary Genomics (CTEGat University of California, Berkeley. I received my Ph.D. degree in Dr. Wen Wang's lab at Chinese Academy of Sciences. I have broad interests in areas of molecular evolution, comparative genomics and epigenomics, with particular focus on the evolution of sex chromosomes. I use multidisciplinary approaches to study a wide range of species with sex chromosomes of very recent origins (termed the 'neo-sex' chromosomes). They provide unique perspectives for studying patterns and mechanisms of fundamental processes including Y degeneration, dosage compensation and sexual antagonism.
